Appropriate

Learning, testing, personal field observation, hardware evaluation, education, and environments or equipment you are authorized to examine.

Not appropriate

Tracking people, profiling routines, covert monitoring, accusations, disciplinary decisions, law-enforcement use, jamming, spoofing, intrusion, or network interference.

What Signal Walk does

Signal Walk organizes readings made available through supported Android APIs into a timed field session. Depending on your device and permissions, this can include nearby Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signal counts and strength, cellular status, motion and environmental readings, location-fix quality, and notable changes.

It does not join networks, connect to nearby devices, or inspect message, call, or network-traffic content. Sessions remain local unless you export or share them. Optional network features are explained in the Privacy Policy.

What results cannot tell you

Do not use Signal Walk to

  • Surveil, track, monitor, follow, harass, intimidate, or stalk another person
  • Profile someone’s home, workplace, routine, relationships, or movements
  • Attribute a signal, device, event, or behavior to a person without independent, lawful evidence
  • Make accusations, reports, disciplinary decisions, or safety judgments about someone
  • Conduct covert investigation or professional surveillance
  • Access, disrupt, jam, spoof, interfere with, or compromise a device or network

Use permission and context

Obtain permission before examining environments, equipment, or systems you do not control. Follow applicable laws, property rules, platform rules, and organizational policies. Do not assume that a passive technology makes every pattern of observation appropriate.

When a proposed use centers on another person rather than an environment or device you are authorized to examine, stop and choose a different approach.

Handle exports carefully

Use Redacted mode for ordinary sharing, Detailed only for a specific technical need, and Summary-only for the smallest footprint. Limit exports to people and systems that need them, and delete copies when they are no longer needed.

A simple rule

Explore signals, not people. Learn what your phone can observe and how environments differ. Do not use a session to claim who was present, what someone was doing, or whether someone posed a risk.
